The DiGiorgio Family Wines Coonawarra Vineyard  In March 2002 the DiGiorgio Family became the proud owners of  the second oldest winery in Coonawarra. This winery had been  known since the early 1950’s as ‘Rouge Homme’ and holds   enormous importance  within the ‘winescape’ of Australia.  The  13.5ha of mature vineyard surrounding the winery is planted on  the famous ‘terra rossa’ soil of Coonawarra.  These old vineyards  have provided the DiGiorgio Family with an invaluable source of  premium grapes for their Coonawarra label.        Harvest Details  Variety  100% Merlot  G.I.  100% Coonawarra  Harvest Date March,  2023    Bottling Details  Alcohol 13%  Bottling Date December, 2024  Oak Handling Nil        Wine Details  Wine Style Sparkling Red  Colour  Deep crimson with brick red hues and a fine and     persistent bead  Nose  A rich array of ripe forest fruits and plum pudding    with hints of spice and old brandy  Palate  Soft and creamy, this wine displays ripe raspberry    and mulberry flavours mingled with nuances of    plum pudding and fruit cake.          Winemaker’s Comment  A rich wine with a soft creamy texture, just the way a traditional  Aussie sparkling red should be. Drink it now while it is fresh and  fruity.     Family favourite : roast turkey with cranberry sauce or with a   decadent brunch of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.
