2017 Polovin Pinot Noir – Jamieson, Upper Goulburn (Victoria)

Crafted in partnership with the Polo Association of Australia, Polovin pays tribute to the heritage of the game of Kings — a sport defined by power, precision, and elegance.

A beautifully matured cool‑climate Pinot Noir from the high‑country slopes of Jamieson in Victoria’s Upper Goulburn region. Now nine years old, it shows the graceful evolution that well‑made Australian Pinot can achieve.

Tasting Note

Colour Brick‑red with a gently browning rim, reflecting its age and steady bottle development.

Bouquet A lifted, savoury nose showcasing classic tertiary complexity:

• forest floor and autumnal earth

• mushroom and truffle

• spicy red and dark cherry

• subtle smoky, seasoned oak

The aromatics are integrated, expressive and unmistakably cool‑climate.

Palate Elegant, balanced and softly textured.

• gentle spice‑infused cherry fruit still present

• fine, resolved tannins giving a silky frame

• savoury, earthy secondary notes emerging with clarity

• harmonious acidity carrying the wine through to a long, savoury finish

The palate sits in a sweet spot between fading primary fruit and rising savoury complexity.

Maturity & Cellaring

Drinking beautifully now, with 3–5 years of enjoyable life ahead. Expect fruit to gradually recede as mushroom, truffle and earthy characters continue to deepen.

Overall Impression

A refined, mature Pinot Noir offering excellent drinking for lovers of aged Australian cool‑climate styles. Balanced, savoury and quietly complex.
